FA Notification

Important information from the Notts FA with regards to photography and filming of child football players

The Notts FA have asked us to remind our managers and parents of the FA policy relating to photography and filming of child players.

Before taking any photos or filming of any children involved in training or games from either side, then you need to gain written permission to be able to do so. Full guidance is attached as a PDF to this article which I would urge all volunteers and parents to read please.

Whilst it isn’t illegal for spectators to film matches, it can pose direct and indirect risks to children and families if the videos or photos are not managed appropriately. Safeguarding issues that could unintentionally be created by uploading footage to the internet of another person’s child are as follows:

Any child in the care of the local authority is not permitted to be filmed or videoed in any circumstance without the explicit permission of the local authority.
Some families have had to escape domestic abuse situations and uploading footage of a child could put someone’s life at risk.
Paedophiles will often trawl through open social media posts to identify children to groom.

Any questions please feel free to contact Paul Disney (Club Welfare Officer).
